So I have to be honest. The way my weight fluctuates I sometimes feel like Oprah’s long lost sister. I have some success with weight loss only to gain it all back the moment I let up a little bit.
I have since given up my quest to get super skinny, but I do want to be healthier. I have two beautiful little babies who I would like to be around for for a long time. Soooo, I would like to invite you all to join me in my summer water and walking challenge! I have started trying to make sure I drink at least 32 oz. a day of water. I know, I know, it is not near what we are supposed to be drinking, but it’s a start. I went and got a cute cup from Wal-Mart to help me want to drink it, and I take my cup everywhere I go. I have also been experimenting with different add-ins to keep me drinking it when I really don’t want to anymore. My favorite is lemon juice!
The next part of my health challenge is walking. Yep. We are going to move our booties! A friend and I meet three mornings a week at 7 a.m. and walk approx. 3 miles. On the off days, I typically walk myself, go on a bike ride with my kids or do some sort of other exercise. If you have small children and don’t know how to get a walk in, just do what I do: walk at home!! My kids are 5 and 7 and it is normally just the three of us in the summer so to still be able to get my walking in, I simply walk up and down the driveway. Sometimes the kids join me (I get some of the best info from them on these walks;)) and sometimes they ride their bikes while I walk. Then there are times when they are not interested at all and just play amongst themselves while I walk. I have found it to be a great way to still get my exercise in and keep my kids involved. Even if they don’t walk with me they can see me doing it and know the effort I am making to be healthier and be around for them for a long time.
If your children are still stroller sized, the best success I had with weight loss was when I was pushing my babies around my old neighborhood in the stroller. (If they get antsy, Popsicles were a great way to keep them in their seats. Yes, it’s a bribe, but it works wonders!)
So will you join me? Let’s get healthier and, thanks to the endorphins from the walking, be happier!
Until next time, I wish you a Life Full of all that makes you happy.
